ROAD BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE
Over 40 kms of road and tracks have been built where none existed before, all using local manual labour. Other roads and bridges have been repaired to improve access. Finance for the project, started in 2005, came from Manda Wilderness and the Swedish Co-operative Centre.
BICYCLE SCHEME
A scheme to provide villages with communal bicycles was launched in 2009. The idea is to provide sturdy bicycles to be used for transport of both villagers and people. Most of the villages have no access to roads, but the tracks through the countryside are ideal for bicycles.
